The Switzerland of Ohio Schools held their annual District Spelling Bee on Tuesday where students, representing four of the area elementary schools, competed for a chance to win.
Coaches from each school worked with their students to help them get ready for the District Spelling Bee and will continue to work with the top nine to prepare for the Regional Bee.
The coaches for each building were:
¯ Barbara Faldowski – Beallsville Elementary
¯Brandon Bunting – Powhatan Elementary
¯ Casey Ruble – River Elementary
¯ Brooke Ferrel – Skyvue Elementary
¯Janelle Bilyeu – Woodsfield Elementary
The top eight students, plus one alternate, from the District Spelling Bee will go on to compete on March 22 at the Regional Spelling Bee in Marietta.
District Spelling Bee Winners:
¯ Overall Winner of the District Spelling Bee – Kayley Schneider, Seventh Grade, Powhatan Elementary
¯ Second Place for Outstanding Spelling – Patricia Campbell, Eighth Grade, River Elementary
¯ Third Place for Outstanding Spelling – Ashley McKnight, Sixth Grade, River Elementary

¯ Josie Woods – Skyvue Elementary
