Denmark v Switzerland preview
Denmark start their preparations for Euro 2024 on Saturday night with a friendly against Switzerland, another side getting ready for this summer’s European championships in Germany.
Saturday’s match will be the first of four pre-tournemant friendlies for Kasper Hjulmand’s side, all of which will take in Denmark, with a match against the Faroe Islands to follow on Tuesday night, before two more friendlies in June against Sweden and Norway.
De Rød-Hvide have won five of their last six matches ahead of Saturday’s friendly, losing just one of their last nine, and will be hoping to repeat their achievement from Euro 2020, in which they reached the semi finals, only losing in extra time to England.
Denmark qualified for Euro 2024, their fourth consecutive appearance in major competitions, by finishing top Group H which contained the likes of Slovenia, Finland and Kazakhstan, winning seven of their 10 matches in the campaign.
The Danes’ progress in their pre-tournament friendlies might be of particular notice to England fans, with the two nations having been drawn together in Group C, kicking their tournament off against Slovenia in Stuttgart before they meet England in Frankfurt and finally Serbia in Munich.
Switzerland managed to qualify for their sixth successive major competition, and their 10th out of the last 11, by finishing second in Group I, automatically booking their ticket to this summer’s Euros in Germany.
Murat Yakin’s side make the trip to Copenhagen on Saturday night having not won in any of their last four matches, which includes draws against Israel, Belarus and Kosovo, and will be eager to get back to winning ways in time for the Euros this summer.
The Swiss side have four friendlies to try and sort out their form, which has been a bit of a worry, so much so that they unexpectedly finished behind Romania in their qualifying group, and collected just one win in their final seven matches.
Following Saturday’s match in Copenhagen, the Red Crosses head to Dublin to take on Ireland on Tuesday night, before home friendlies against Estonia and Austria in June as final preparation for the Euro 2024 campaign which starts against Hungary in Cologne a week later.
Their Group A campaign continues with their second game against Scotland in the same city, before their final group match against hosts Germany in Frankfurt.
Denmark are unbeaten in their last five matches against Switzerland, winning two of their last three, and haven’t tasted defeat against the Swiss since way back in 1984, while Switzerland have never won an away match in Denmark.
📝 Denmark v Switzerland betting tips
Denmark are in much the better form heading into Saturday’s match, as they come up against a side who have never won in the country, and have just one win in their last seven. Copybet are pricing Denmark to win and both teams to score at 10/3, which could be a safe bet.
