The 2022 tournament broke attendance records, with over half a million fans making it out to the matches, and England’s final win over Germany was witnessed by 87,192 fans at Wembley – a European Championship final attendance record in both men’s and women’s football. With the hype for the women’s game only growing, Switzerland 2025 is set to be another pivotal tournament.
Though they didn’t make it out of their group in 2022, the Swiss will be hoping to follow in the Lionesses’ footsteps with a home advantage this time round. Swiss Football Association president Dominique Blanc said: “This is a historic day for Switzerland, the SFA and women’s football. This major step will shape the development of women’s football at all levels.”
The competition will take place in June and July of 2025, in eight cities: Basel, Bern, Geneva, Zurich, St Gallen, Sion, Lucerne and Thun.
