Swiss President Viola Amgerd believes that the Global Peace Summit will only be the beginning of negotiations, then negotiations with Russia will probably take place. She told the German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung about this, reports dpa.
“It is clear to us that we will not sign a peace agreement at the end of the conference,” Amgerd said.
The President of Switzerland added that both sides should be at the table of peace negotiations, and Russia will not participate in the June Peace Summit.
Amgerd noted that the summit is designed to create a platform for dialogue, where the first step will be to discuss how to achieve peace in Ukraine, and it will be about humanitarian issues, nuclear security, freedom of navigation and food security.
“We want to build trust and find solutions to these issues, which are important for the civilian population, and eventually for the restoration of peace,” Amgerd said.
