Scotland vs Switzerland team news and talking points
Switzerland won their first match of Euro 2024, beating Hungary 3-1, meaning they know victory over Scotland will secure their place in the last 16.
Murat Yakin’s side may well choose to start the same line-up which dominated the Hungarians on Saturday, although Breel Embolo’s late goal from the bench may earn him a starting spot.
Meanwhile, Scotland have to find their replacement for Watford centre-back Ryan Porteous, who was sent off against Germany for a horror tackle on Ilkay Gundogan.
Grant Hanley is the most likely replacement – the 32-year-old Norwich defender has 51 caps and will add much-needed experienced to the Scottish backline.
Another selection debate is raging around Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour, who was left out of the starting XI against Germany.
Clarke opted to play Celtic’s Callum McGregor, but Gilmour should start against Switzerland to help Scotland take control of the game.
There is also some demand for Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland to start up front in place of Che Adams.
