Euro 2024 Betting Picks and Prop Bets for Wednesday 6/19/24

The 2024 UEFA European Football Championship — also known as Euro 2024 — is here, and it should be a fun tournament.

FanDuel Sportsbook’s Euro 2024 odds offer a variety of ways to get in on the action, including betting lines for each match.

Let’s take a look at the best bets for Wednesday’s matches.

All Euro 2024 odds come from FanDuel Sportsbook and may change after this article is published.

Euro 2024 Betting Picks

Scotland vs. Switzerland (3 PM ET)

Switzerland Moneyline (-115)

Scotland and Switzerland got off to opposite starts to the tournament. There’s a chance that this will carry over to their second match when they face each other.

It would have been difficult to see a path to Scotland doing well in the first match against Germany, but it went worse than expected. They lost 5-1, and because the goal was an own goal, they produced 0.0 expected goals (xG).

Scotland had to play half of the game with only 10 men after Ryan Porteous was given a red card. This means that they will be without one of their starting center backs for this match.

Switzerland played well against Hungary on Saturday. They won 3-1 and won the xG battle, 2.3 to 1.3. The Swiss have now only lost once in their last 15 matches in all competitions.

An area where the Scots struggled against Germany is in the midfield. They let Toni Kroos run the show as he completed 99% of his passes. Switzerland don’t have a player quite as good as Kroos at passing, but Granit Xhaka is coming off of a brilliant season with Leverkusen and completed 90% of his passes in the first match.

It certainly looks like Switzerland has the edge in multiple areas, so I like backing them at just -115 odds.

Croatia vs. Albania (9 AM ET)

Croatia -1.5 (+148)

Both of these teams lost their opening match in Group B and will need a result to put themselves in position to make the knockout round.

They both had the same result, but the performances were very different. Albania lost 2-1 to Italy after scoring a goal in the opening minute of the match. That goal came on their only shot on target for the match, and they had just 32% possession. They created just 0.5 xG compared to 1.5 conceded.

Croatia lost by three goals, but you could make the argument that they were unlucky losers. They had more possession than Spain — the first time the Spanish were out-possessed in a match in 16 years. They also had more xG than Spain despite the 3-0 loss.

In the last two World Cups, Croatia have significantly overperformed expectations. Their squad isn’t quite as good this time around, but they have experienced players you can rely on like Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic. There are no midfielders in Albania’s squad that can compete with that midfield.

Even some of the best teams in the tournament, like England and France, haven’t been able to win by multiple goals. There is incentive for Croatia to keep attacking in this match because their 3-0 defeat is not good for their goal differential — the first tiebreaker if they are a third-place team.

Given the clear talent advantage and that incentive, the price of +148 is good enough for me to consider wagering.

Prop Bets

Florian Wirtz to Post 3 or More Shots (-115): Germany’s plan of attack was to have Kai Havertz drop into midfield as a false nine. This allows the attacking midfielders like Florian Wirtz to run behind the defense for goal-scoring opportunities.

This worked like a charm in the opening game against Scotland. Wirtz only played 63 minutes but still had three shots. Germany had a big advantage over Scotland in terms of talent and will against Hungary, too.

If the game is a bit more in doubt, Wirtz could stay in longer than just 63 minutes, which gives him a great chance of reaching three shots.

Andrej Kramaric to Score (+150): If we think Croatia will be able to bag a few goals against Albania, then someone has to score. There’s a good chance it will be Andrej Kramaric.

Kramaric had 15 goals in 30 appearances for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this season. That includes a hat trick against Bayern Munich in the final match of the season.

He was able to get two shots in 72 minutes against Spain, and against weaker opposition, I like his chances of turning one of his scoring opportunities into a marker.
