Swiss midfielder Fabian Rieder, who five days ago joined Bundesliga side Stuttgart on a season-long loan from French side Rennes, has been excellent today.
His physicality has been really important in winning free-kicks, breaking up brief spells of Italy momentum and allowing Switzerland to dictate the tempo of the match.
His tireless engine has meant he has pressed high as well as effectively acting as an extra central midfielder without the ball. And the lithe, agile leftie is technically gifted enough to keep hold of the ball too.
A really strong all-around performer.
