The Swiss men’s national volleyball team has won its second match in qualifying for Euro 2026.
Switzerland wins in Schönenwerd against Spain in five sets, just as it did a week earlier in Sweden. The team of Argentinian coach Juan Manuel Serramalera is well on its way to qualifying for the finals after winning 25:16, 25:23, 19:25, 22:25, 15:9. The winners of the seven three-team groups are guaranteed qualification, while five other teams will make it to the tournament as group runners-up.
In Schönenwerd, Switzerland had to fight for victory again after a two-set lead and a somewhat weaker phase. The Spaniards forced a deciding game. In the final phase, the Swiss were convincing, not least with their service. Mischa von Burg in particular, who plays for Volley Schönenwerd, put in a strong series.
Serramalera and his team will now have to be patient until they can possibly reap the rewards of their performance over the last few days. The European Championship qualifiers do not resume until next summer, at home against Sweden and away against Spain.
