Former winners of the Euros in 1988, Netherlands fans have been waiting decades for their team to reestablish their place amongst the upper echelon of European national teams.
The Euro 2024 bracket has fallen in a way that means now the Oranje can do just that, but they will not want to look past Turkey, as the two sides meet in the quarterfinals in Berlin on Saturday.
A third-place finish behind Austria and France in Group D couldn’t keep the Dutch from qualifying for the knockout stage, and a 3-0 victory over Romania reminded the field that they’re still a force to be reckoned with, despite not having reached the semifinals of this competition since 2004.
They’ve been handed a soft draw pulling Turkey in the quarterfinals, and either a struggling England or Switzerland in a potential semifinal, but this matchup will not be a cakewalk. Turkey have looked a strong underdog contender, with tenacity in midfield and a budding star in Arda Guler up front.

Netherlands vs. Turkey prediction, odds
- Moneyline lean: Netherlands (-175)
- Score prediction: Netherlands 2-1 Turkey
Turkey are not to be overlooked, but the Dutch should manage to find enough goals to see this one out. Turkey have not had a clean sheet in any Euro 2024 game thus far, conceding a goal each in of their victories over Georgia, Czechia and Austria, plus a 3-0 thumping at the hands of Portugal.
In truth, Turkey were lucky to get out of the opener against Georgia with all three points on the back of two glittering goals, and they were well beaten by Portugal. The Dutch can turn on the jets when needed, scoring at least two goals in every game save a drab 0-0 draw against France in which neither side looked truly motivated to attack.

Netherlands vs. Turkey match facts
- Date: Saturday, Jul. 6, 2024
- Kickoff Time: 9 p.m. local (3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT)
- Location: Olympiastadion (Berlin, Germany)
- Referee: Clement Turpin (FRA)
- Last meeting: Netherlands 6-1 Turkey (Sep. 7, 2021 | World Cup qualifying)
- Pick: Netherlands over 6.5 corners
- Odds: -110 (DraftKings)
The Dutch are an extremely vertical team, and they love to rack up set-pieces with their attacking impetus. Against an equally open team like Turkey, they will be able to get forward at a high rate.
Most recently, the Netherlands put up 13 corners on Romania in the 3-0 Round of 16 victory. That was their first game going over the total at this tournament, but it was also the first time they managed to meet a team that wanted to play with their run-and-gun game.
Prior to that, they’d racked up five corners against Austria and six corners against Poland, two teams who prioritize a cagey approach to the game. Turkey are not that, having conceded nine corners in the last match to Austria and even coughing up five against Georgia, who held just 44 per cent possession.
Netherlands vs. Turkey prop bet
- Pick: Turkey 10+ total shots
- Odds: -115 (FanDuel)
The Netherlands are by far the better attacking side and should have the majority of the volume up front, but unlike the far more defensive Romania, who the Dutch faced last time, Turkey do not shy away from attempting to get forward themselves.
Turkey managed 11 shots as they troubled Portugal on numerous occasions, and they pummeled Czechia with 18 shots in their group-stage victory. They only got six shots against Austria, but largely that was thanks to their early lead — going in front less than a minute in.
Netherlands vs. Turkey flier bet
- Pick: Netherlands to win from behind
- Odds: +775 (BetMGM)
The Dutch have been clearly lacking in focus early in matches this tournament, but have turned it around each time. They trailed in two of their three group-stage games, conceding early goals to both Poland and Austria. In the scoreless draw with France they saw Antoine Griezmann miss a big 14th-minute opportunity, while Romania’s best chance came in the 24th minute.
Turkey are primed to take advantage. They’ve scored goals in the first minute vs. Austria and 25th minute vs. Georgia. They came up empty with two huge early chances five and six minutes into the 3-0 defeat to Portugal, while all four of their shots from within the penalty area came before the halftime break.
