Last Friday, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (SFGB), together with the police, uncovered an illegal gambling establishment in Basel. The officers confiscated gaming material, computers and mobile devices.
The persons present on site were questioned and had to provide their personal details, as the SFGB announced on Monday. The accused persons face prison sentences of up to five years or fines for violating the Gambling Act.
The Basel police had previously received several tips from private individuals that people were playing poker and gambling for money on computers in a pub. According to the SFGB, this confirmed the suspicion that casino games were being offered on these premises without the necessary license.
