Cowboy Basketball Alumni Update – Oklahoma State University Athletics

2023-24 was a busy year for former Cowboys in professional basketball leagues spanning 16 countries and four different continents.

Six Oklahoma State alumni won championships, including Lindy Waters with the G-League’s OKC Blue. Isaac Likekele led his team to the top of the Norwegian League, Markel Brown captured the Italian Cup and former teammates Jawun Evans and Leyton Hammonds joined forces to bring home the French Cup. In addition, Yankuba Sima continues to thrive in his native Spain, helping his club to a first-place finish in FIBA’s Basketball Champions League while earning a call up to the Spanish Senior National Team.

Four alums earned all-league honors in their respective national divisions: Jeffrey Carroll (Germany), Anthony Hickey (Italy), LeBryan Nash (Indonesia) and Likekele (Norway).

A handful of players – including Cade Cunningham of the Detroit Pistons – have locked in contracts for the 2024-25 season, with several more on the way. Mike Marsh recently became the first member of the 2024 OSU senior class to sign, inking a deal with Pully in the Swiss Basketball League.

Read on for updates on some of your favorite former Cowboys.

He was part of draft day trade to the Golden State Warriors in June, 2024. It was a busy year for Waters, even before that. He split time between the Thunder and its G-League affiliate, the OKC Blue, helping the latter to a championship. In NBA action, he shot better than 43% from deep to help the big club claim the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Waters shined off the court, as well. The 10th-year pro and 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year averaged career-highs for points (14.5) and steals (2.1) in his first tour with the Memphis Grizzlies but was limited to just 20 games due to injury.
