The Danes will face Spain and Switzerland in the Nations League this October.
Caretaker manager Morten Wieghorst has confirmed the Denmark squad ahead of the October international break. The Danes will face Switzerland and Spain in the UEFA Nations League this calendar month.
The biggest addition to Denmark’s team for the Nations League matches against Spain and Switzerland is Rasmus Hojlund, a striker for Manchester United who has returned after a long-term injury.
Hojlund is yet to play for United this season after suffering an injury during the pre-season. But his surprise call-up for the national team will be a big boost for United.
Morten Wieghorst has also called up new faces for the games. In addition to Hojlund, the team has added three more players. Centre-back Rasmus Nicolaisen, who could be making his debut, goalie Frederik Ronnow, and midfielder Jens Stage.
There are more players than normal in the squad—25—because a few could face suspensions should they receive a yellow card against Spain.
Denmark have a big chance of progressing further in the competition after an impressive start to the Nations League campaign. After sweeping their first two home games against Serbia and Switzerland, both by 2-0 scorelines, Denmark lead group A4 of the UEFA Nations League, two points above Spain.
They will be hoping to continue their winning run in this competition when they face Euro 2024 winners LA Roja. Later the Danes will once again meet the Swiss and hope to finish the group top of the table.
