England will look to qualify for the semi-finals of Euro 2024 when they take on Switzerland this weekend, live on talkSPORT.
The Three Lions needed extra-time to scrape past Slovakia 2-1 in the round of 16 to set up this last-eight tie against the Swiss.

Gareth Southgate‘s side were heading out until in the 95th minute when Jude Bellingham scored an incredible overhead kick to equalise.
Harry Kane then headed home the winner a minute into extra time to save England following another lacklustre display.
However, the Three Lions will have to improve if they are to beat Switzerland – who have already eliminated defending champions Italy.

- This will be the fourth meeting between England and Switzerland at a major tournament, and third at the UEFA European Championship. England won 2-0 in the 1954 World Cup, 3-0 at EURO 2004, and had a 1-1 draw at EURO 1996.
- England have lost just one of their last 24 meetings with Switzerland in all competitions (W17 D6), and are unbeaten in 13 (W9 D4) since a 2-1 loss in a World Cup qualifier in May 1981.
- England have now reached the quarter-final in all four of their major tournaments under Gareth Southgate, the first time they’ve ever reached the last eight at four consecutive EUROs/World Cups. They’ve progressed from two of their four EURO quarter-final matches, with three of the four such games being decided on penalties.
England vs Switzerland: Team news
The big news for the Three Lions is that they will be without Marc Guehi – who has played every minute of the tournament so far.
The Crystal Palace defender is banned after picking up two yellow cards across the first four games.
Ezri Konsa or Luke Dunk are the most likely options to replace him, although Kieran Trippier left the pitch with an injury as well.
Luke Shaw could be fit having been an unused substitute against Slovakia, but he hasn’t played a first-team game since February.
Elsewhere, Gareth Southgate might decide to bring in Chelsea’s Cole Palmer into the side for Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.
Meanwhile, Switzerland were sweating over Granit Xhaka‘s fitness after he went for an MRI scan.
However, the scan came back all clear, and he’s likely to start in an unchanged team for the Swiss.

- Switzerland have reached only their fifth ever major tournament (World Cup/EUROs) quarter-final, and second at the UEFA European Championship, after EURO 2020. They have been eliminated at this stage in all four of their previous attempts; this is the most any European nation has featured in quarter-finals of major tournaments without ever participating in a semi-final.
- Having lost six of their first eight matches (D2) at the UEFA European Championship, Switzerland have lost just one of their last 14 in the competition (W5 D8). Two of those eight draws, however, have resulted in penalty shootout defeats.

England vs Switzerland: What has been said?
After the win over Slovakia, Bellingham had some strong words for the fans.
However, Jeff Stelling and Gabby Agbonlahor think that supporters have every right to criticise.
Stelling said on talkSPORT: “The England fans have been nothing but fantastic towards the England players in my opinion.
“If you take the praise and take the rich rewards that come with being a professional footballer, you have to take the flack sometimes as well but they haven’t had too much of it.”
Agbonlahor agreed, adding: “I’ve been there as a player, you get stick and it’s natural for anybody in any job when you’re getting stick, to have a little bite back.
“What the players have to realise is the fans have been positive.
“When the players are passing it around at the back with five minutes to go and you’re getting knocked out against Slovakia, they’ve got a right to moan.
“So, I think the players have got to be very careful and maybe get together and start to understand that they need the fans on side.
“When you start having little problems with the fans, it doesn’t end well for players.”
