Hey Jude, you’re not afraid. You were made to go out and get them. You took a sad England and made them better. Remember not to let Switzerland under your skin; then, you’ll carry England upon your shoulders.
At least that’s what Three Lions supporters envision entering their quarterfinal clash against a Switzerland side they haven’t lost to in 13 matches. Like Jude Bellingham, let’s bicyclekick our way into our England vs. Switzerland Euro 2024 predictions.
Switzerland last beat England on May 30, 1981. But that won’t deter a Swiss side that hadn’t beaten Italy since May 1, 1993, an 11-match run, before vanquishing their Azzurri demons in the 2-0 Round of 16 victory.
Saturday’s match takes place at noon ET in Düsseldorf, Germany (Fox Sports).
England, the Euro 2024 odds front-runners, are the consensus favorites across our best soccer betting sites to advance to the final four. On the other side of the pitch, Switzerland are aiming to qualify for their first European Championship semifinal.

England vs. Switzerland score prediction
England 1 vs. Switzerland 1
Switzerland matches up well despite their abject record against the Three Lions. The Swiss rank 15th in possession percentage (48), while England control the ball 60.5% of the time, the tournament’s third-best rating. Somewhat counterintuitively, that will benefit a Switzerland squad that can sit back, absorb, and look to deal a lethal counterpunch.
England have been too lumbered and slow in possession, struggling to find incisive balls that lead to clear opportunities. They have mustered just 12 shots on target, tied for the eighth fewest.
Meanwhile, Switzerland are more opportunistic than an effervescent and motivated gold digger. They have netted seven times on 5.08 expected goals. That’s tied for the third most goals while ranking 12th in expected goals. Unless Switzerland endured a regression, the contest could be headed for the most stressful 30 minutes in footy and potentially the most dreaded word in sports: penalty kicks.

England vs. Switzerland anytime goal scorer prediction
Harry Kane, England
While nowhere near as flamboyant or highlight reel, Harry Kane is every bit as important to England as Bellingham. England’s captain is a pillar of consistency, particularly regarding his goals return. Kane scored the decisive goal against Slovakia in extra time, just a minute after Bellingham’s heroic wonder goal that prolonged England’s tournament.
Both stars have two goals each, accounting for all of England’s goals thus far. Kane has seven goals in the last seven World Cup and Euros knockout matches, a rate even the most prolific strikers can only dream of.
England’s talisman has netted 14 times in 26 World Cup and European Championship contests and matches up well against a comparatively mediocre Swiss defense.
The +170 odds at Betway will pay a profit of $17 if Kane bulges the old onion bag.

England vs. Switzerland best bet
ML tie
England have more skill and star power than most teams in the world, let alone the European Championships. Unfortunately, like a few other favorites across our best sports betting sites, they haven’t lived up to the hype. It’s a record played as often as the Beatles “Hey Jude.”
While I believe England should prevail and outlast Switzerland, they won’t without expediting their fan base’s aging process. Switzerland played magnificently against Italy in the Round of 16 and pushed Germany to the brink in their Group A finale.
Bursting with belief and confidence, Switzerland will emulate Slovakia’s game plan, frustrating England by making them play laterally and conservatively.
Unless England jump on the Swiss with an early goal, I expect the match to be nervy, cagey, and, ultimately, too close to call at the end of 90.
The +200 odds at Betway will pay a profit of $20 if the match goes to extra time.
