Spain’s dominant victory over Georgia helped boost its odds, as it moves ahead of Germany in the betting odds. However, the two countries are set to face each other in the quarterfinal, so a tournament favorite will be eliminated before the semi-final.
England still holds the best odds, but Slovakia did give it a run for its money in the Round of 16. Slovakia took a lead at halftime and England was on the verge of elimination before Jude Bellingham netted the tying goal just before the end of full time.
Early in extra time, Harry Kane would score the game winner and the English would survive the upset bid. It will now face Switzerland in the quarterfinal. The Swiss took down Italy 2-0 on Saturday.
As June turns to July, eight more countries will vye for the remaining four spots in the quarterfinals. This includes other tournament contenders like France and Portugal,
If France and Portugal are able to defeat Belgium and Slovenia respectively, then a quarterfinal matchup between the two will come to fruition. That would mean that two teams with top five betting odds will be eliminated before the semifinals.
