Glamour jockey’s highs and lows in thrilling Derby Day

What a day for Jamie Kah!

First, she wins The Damien Oliver riding Another Will.

Then she suffers a suspected broken nose after being struck by her horse Hurry Curry in the gates before the Wakeful Stakes. This rules her out of the race.

After being cleared to ride, the South Australian subsequently takes out the Victoria Derby with Goldrush Guru — becoming only the second woman to do so.

Then, to top off the rollercoaster day at Flemington, Kah is handed a 10-meeting ban for interference.

Oh, the highs and the lows!

Reflecting on Kah’s effort in the Derby, presenter Francesca Cumani was blown away.

“We aren’t going, ‘It’s a female jockey’,” she said.

“She is a female jockey with the males. It isn’t a surprise to see her winning the feature race.”
