The US pharmaceutical and medical technology group Johnson & Johnson is reducing its workforce in Switzerland. The company had to adapt its business to a “complex and rapidly changing external environment”, a spokeswoman told the news agency AWP on Tuesday.
For this reason, the company has recently made changes to its organization in order to improve business processes. The employees affected by this are to be supported as much as possible in their search for a new job, the spokesperson added. She did not give any figures on the job cuts.
The company from New Brunswick in the US state of New Jersey has been represented in Switzerland for over 60 years and currently has nine locations. These include global production capacities, said the spokeswoman. According to the company, it employs over 5600 people in Switzerland.
A few days ago, the portal “Inside Paradeplatz” reported, citing an anonymous source, that Johnson & Johnson was cutting 100 jobs in Switzerland and closing its site in Zuchwil, Solothurn. The company did not comment on this when asked.
