Joel Embiid has yet to play a single minute on the court this NBA season. Now the Olympic champion’s comeback with the Philadelphia 76ers has been delayed after an altercation.
Embiid has been suspended for three games by the NBA. According to the league, the 2023 MVP shoved a journalist in the dressing room last weekend following the 107-124 home game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer had previously reported critically on Embiid.
Embiid’s suspension will take effect from the moment he is healthy and fit to play again, according to the NBA’s statement. The Olympic champion from Paris, who is suffering from knee problems, will not receive a salary during the suspension.
