For the second year in a row, Penticton Vees forward Simon Meier will have a shot at representing his home country on the world stage.
The 19-year-old has been named to Switzerland’s selection camp, ahead of the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa.
Meier, now in his second season with the Vees, played at the tournament in 2024. He registered two goals in five games, helping Switzerland reach the tournament’s quarterfinals.
The 5’10, 160-pound winger sits seventh in team scoring this season with 16 points in 25 games.
Meier, who will head to the selection camp next week, has no shortage of international experience under his belt.
Along with suiting at the world juniors last winter, the forward also played at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Hockey Championship and 2022 Under-18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Meier and Vees are back on the ice Friday, Dec. 6, as they host the Sherwood Park Crusaders at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
