Scottish football cult hero spotted with son in crowd of Scotland vs Switzerland

A SCOTTISH football cult hero was spotted in the stands ahead of Scotland vs Switzerland tonight.

Some fans joked for him to be given a late call-up to Steve Clarke‘s squad – but who could blame them given his goal record?

At the age of 36, the ageless wonder scored 22 goals last season for his club as they narrowly missed out on promotion.

The man in question is none other than Partick Thistle legend Brian Graham.

He was the winner of the PFA Scottish Championship player of the year award this year as his goals propelled Partick to a play-off place.

His club narrowly missed out on promotion to the Scottish Premiership after losing to Ross County in the play-off final.

The disappointment of that defeat will linger for the modern day Jags icon but as of now, he’s joined the thousands of Tartan Army members by supporting the national team over in Germany at the Euros.

He was caught on camera this evening ahead of Scotland‘s crucial clash against Switzerland.

TV pictures captured the adorable moment he had his son hoisted onto his shoulders as they sang along with the rest of the fans at the Cologne Stadium.

Graham himself famously quipped that after Lyndon Dykes was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury, he had been dreaming of a phone call from Clarke.

He said in an interview with the BBC: “I was hoping Steve Clarke would have given me a call, I had a dream but it wasn’t to be!”

And fans on social media who noticed Graham in the crowd were quick to pass comment on the fan favourite.

One said: “Thistle legend Brian Graham at the game!”

A second commented: “Just saw Brian Graham on the TV at Scotland game!”

Another said: And here he is! Big Brian Graham of @PartickThistle and son, cheering on Scotland!”

A third said: “Brian Graham for a late call up?”

Graham has also played for Morton, Raith Rovers, Dundee United and Hibs during his career, as well as St Johnstone, Ross County and Cheltenham Town in England.

While he himself wasn’t scoring this time, he watched on as Scott McTominay put Scotland ahead against the Swiss.
