UK-based coffee and food-to-go chain SOHO Coffee Co. has opened its 11th airport store and first in Switzerland, via franchisee Canonica Group.
The Geneva Airport outlet adds to SOHO Coffee Co.’s presence in major European airports. The coffee chain currently operates sites at airports in Birmingham and Bristol in the UK, Las Palmas, Madrid and Malaga in Spain and Lisbon and Faro in Portugal.
“We are excited to partner with the Canonica group for the first SOHO Coffee in the Swiss market. They are a great franchise partner, professional, and share the vision and values of our brand. We have had lots of exciting conversations with the group, to create a further presence in more international markets and travel hubs. We are looking forward to growing the future of the SOHO brand with Canonica, and building on the early success at Geneva Airport,” said Sam Shutt, CEO of SOHO Coffee Co.’s parent company BTC Hospitality.
The coffee chain has a total network of 41 stores globally – 32 of which are in the UK. Its international stores and four of its UK outlets are franchise-operated.
SOHO Coffee Co. also operates two sites in Qatar at the Place Velodrome and Landmark Mall shopping centres.
BTC Hospitality – a subsidiary of Qatari investment firm Business Trading Company – also operates five-store UK bakery café chain Euphorium Bakery.
In January 2023, Penny Manuel stepped down as Managing Director of SOHO Coffee Co. having led the coffee and food-to-go chain since August 2006. Sam Shutt was appointed Group CEO of BTC Hospitality in April 2023 with responsibility for both SOHO Coffee Co. and Euphorium Bakery.
