Spain round off their Nations League group campaign at home to Switzerland on Monday night.
The holders are already assured of a place in the quarter-finals as group winners and Luis de la Fuente could use the clash with the Swiss as a chance to experiment with his side. Spain won in Denmark on Friday to confirm top spot in the group and there is little on the line for either side this evening.
Switzerland’s relegation to the second tier has already been confirmed after a miserable Nations League campaign. The Swiss have taken just two points from five games and have failed to win since beating Italy at Euro 2024.
Spain vs Switzerland – Match preview and team news
Form
Spain: DWWWW
Since opening the Nations League with a goalless draw in Serbia, Spain have been flawless to ease into the quarter-finals. Four straight wins have secured top spot in the group, including a 2-1 win in Denmark.
Mikel Oyarzabal, who scored the winner in the Euro 2024 final win over England, opened the scoring in Copenhagen before Ayoze Perez doubled the lead. Gustav Isaksen’s goal for the hosts was little consolation.
Spain are unbeaten in 15 games, winning 13, and have not lost since a friendly defeat to Colombia in March.
Switzerland: LLLDD
Switzerland are on a miserable six-game winless run with their last victory coming against Italy in the last 16 at Euro 2024. Their Nations League campaign began in nightmare fashion with three consecutive defeats, before draws with Denmark and Serbia got points on the board.
However, the 1-1 stalemate with the latter means Switzerland have been relegated to the second tier of the Nations League. Dusan Tadic’s 88th-minute equaliser rescued a result for Serbia and condemned the Swiss to the drop.

However, the European champions remained in control and added to their advantage through Ruiz’s second of the game on 77 minutes. Ferran Torres completed the rout for La Roja.
