The draw for the next edition of UEFA’s Women’s European Championship takes place on Monday, December 16.
A total of 16 teams will once again battle for the major honour, last contested in 2022 on a one-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In that last final, hosts England defeated Germany to claim the title in a scene reminiscent of when the men’s international squad won their only World Cup at the same location over the same opposing nation.
Sarina Wiegman’s squad came close to also lifting the Women’s World Cup, but were defeated in the final by Spain, who will also fancy their chances in Switzerland next summer.
Here are the teams who’ll be participating, as well as the group layout and schedule so far. The Sporting News will update this upon completion of the draw.

Women’s Euro 2025: Group Stage pots
There are four groups of four teams, with the top two advancing after each team in a group has faced their three group opponents once apiece.
The draw will be conducted according to four seeding pots based on qualifying ranking for this tournament alone. Every group will contain one nation from each of the four pots.
The sole exception is Switzerland, who are already guaranteed to be A1 — the Pot 1 team in Group A — due to their host nation status.
- Pot 1: Switzerland (Group A), Spain, Germany, France
- Pot 2: Italy, Iceland, Denmark, England
- Pot 3: Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Belgium
- Pot 4: Finland, Poland, Portugal, Wales
Did England automatically qualify as holders?
No — England had to qualify for this on their own merit, and their campaign to do so, while successful, was only enough for them to be in Pot 2.
This means they will face one of Switzerland, Spain, Germany or France in the group stage, no matter what.
