According to the report of assisted suicide group Exit International, a 64-year-old US woman breathed her last on Monday afternoon in the portable 3D-printed chamber known as Sarco, whose expansion is the sarcophagus. The identity of the woman has been kept anonymous, and she expired near the Swiss-German border.
Exit International claimed that the woman was suffering from severe immune-compromised disease. Switzerland is the only country where foreigners can travel to legally end their lives, and they will get assistance regarding suicide, which will not involve a doctor but can include help from outside. The Swiss officials said that the controversial pod has not been approved for use.
The chamber of the controversial pod is being flooded with nitrogen, which leads to a rapid drop in oxygen level, which causes death with no pain. The co-president of Exit International’s Swiss affiliate, the Last Resort, Florian Willet, has witnessed the death of the woman, and he refers to the death as peaceful, fast, and dignified, as per the report of the New York Post.

Few individuals are in custody for alleged incitement and accessory to suicide. A photographer associated with the Dutch newspaper Volkskrant was also on the suspect list because the photographer takes pictures of the use of suicide pods.

Once the controversial pod is activated, the person inside it loses consciousness and expires within 10 minutes. The controversial pod is activated from inside, and it contains an emergency exit button. The director of Exit International, Dr. Philip Nitschke, gave a statement that Sarco gave its performance according to its design, which will provide an elective, non-drug, peaceful death at the time of the person’s choosing. He previously told me that lawyers from Switzerland gave advice regarding legal consideration of this device. On Monday, Health Minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider stated that the capsule would not be legal, as specified in the New York Post. Also Read : Sinners movie release: Watch teaser-trailer of Ryan Coogler-Michael B. Assisted suicide is legal in Switzerland under specific conditions. People who want to end their life can do that, but without external support from the doctor and the assistants, it will not motivate the person who wants to end the life. Unlike the Netherlands, where Exit International is headquartered, Swiss law maintains a strict prohibition against euthanasia.
